Jerry & Raylene have been counseling with people for the past 25 years. Jerry attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri after graduating high school. After their marriage in 1988, the Burns' went through extensive training and became part of an evangelistic team that left Kansas and headed to the northwest to plant a church. Jerry and Raylene ministered with several churches in Montana, and Jerry became an ordained pastor while ministering in Dillon, Montana. Jerry and Raylene moved back to Kansas in 2001. Pastor Jerry then pursued additional couseling classes through Summit Bible College and Light University. The Burns' then became part of the team with Earnest Alexander at Youth Horizons in Wichita at that time. Jerry and Raylene served as Co-Directors of the boys home until Jerry took a pastor position with Eastside Community Church in Wichita. Raylene received her Bachelor's in Psychology & Family Counseling through Barclay College. After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Jerry and Raylene made the decision for her to pursue Christian Counseling. In 2006, Jerry became Senior Pastor at Crossroads Community Church in Augusta. Raylene enrolled in the MSFT program at Friends University and graduated with a 4.0 gpa in 2007. She was also awarded the Sheldon Louthan Outstanding Graduate Student award of her cohort. The Burns' continued to minister but was very aware that God was shaping their ministry by using counseling to help restore individuals and families. A huge and vital part of their ministry is to help other's see themselves as Jesus sees them. In the summer of 2014, the Burns' were given the amazing opportunity to be blessed with Christian Hills Camp, and it is their desire to not only share the camp, but create a place of restoration and healing.
It is their desire as a couple to offer people a wholistic approach to the troubling issues they face. They want you to know you are not alone and help is available for the taking. Please talk to them to learn and experience lasting change as they look through a spiritual and educated lense to learn the root of the problem. The Burns' have dealt with issues such as addiction, PTSD, families in conflict, blended family problems, depression, anxiety, pre-marital counseling, gender issues, sex addiction, domestic violence, and more. There are two verses the Burns' keep before them as a reminder of their counseling and ministry:
This is a true say and everyone should believe it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" - and I am the worst of them all. But that is why God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. I Timothy 1:15 & 16
We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins.. And we all can be saved in the same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. Romans 3:22
Jerry and Raylene have certainly had their share of ups and downs during their 28 years together. They have a blended family of five children, and have struggled financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The Burns' success can only be attributed to God's blessing and their own school of hard knocks mixed with their education and experiences. Because of this, Jerry and Raylene are 'real' people who do not place judgment on people's impending crisis or emotional state. The Burns' have an unquenchable desire to help those in need despite race, religion, or ability to pay. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
